About the Video Archive Project
PEP-Web has been extended to include a video platform, which showcases films and videos. All spoken material in the videos has been transcribed to text and is integrated and fully searchable with the existing journal and book archive. This exciting feature makes it more than just a collection of videos–it’s fully integrated into the archive of journals and books. To see how it works you can go here. Click on any video and you will see the complete transcript accompanying the picture and sound (you must be logged in to watch videos).
Long term the project aims to bring together and preserve all existing audio-visual material of interest and relevance to psychoanalytic thinking, practice, and research, as well as to encourage the creation of new material. As a result we intend and expect the available material to grow rapidly and for the video archive (linked to and part of the text archive) to become a valuable resource for research, study, and teaching, particularly in places where the availability of teachers with experience is limited.
PEP has initiated several projects intended to greatly increase the number of quality videos available on PEP-Web.
Do you know of any key psychoanalytic videos we could include?
We are looking for videos and advice about where to get them. For content PEP decides to publish, PEP will handle all the production beyond the videos themselves, i.e., all the tagging, transcribing, and trans-coding responsible for creating the final text and video.
Most material on PEP-Web will be published by non-exclusive arrangements – meaning it will not prevent a video owner using it in any other way they chose. The transcripts can also be made available for other uses by the copyright holders.
We are looking for a wide range of audiovisual material that is of value to psychoanalytic thinking, practice, and research. Email here to let us know what videos you think would make a great addition to PEP-Web.
Becoming a Publisher of PEP Video
Some Institutes, universities, or individuals may have or wish to create a series of films under their own banner and to have its films delivered through the PEP platform and integrated to the PEP Archive texts. University College London, San Francisco Psychoanalytic Center, and the Institute of Psychoanalysis are current examples, and others are in the pipeline.

PLEASE NOTE. Most video content is currently in English. But it is not intended that the video platform be limited to one language. PEP is looking into various translation possibilities.
PEP Video Grants Project
From 2013 through 2014, $200,000 in grants were available and awarded for new video projects. The Video Grant Project has been discontinued for the time being as PEP is always evolving new projects.
All Video Grant applications were reviewed and voted on by a panel of Jurors who were nominated and elected for this purpose by the top one hundred downloaded authors of 2013 (publishing in the last 20 years) on PEP-Web. Click here to see the list of winning projects.
The new films will provide an opportunity to reflect on, deepen, or explicate core psychoanalytic work.
PEP would like to acknowledge the support of its journal publishers, particularly Taylor & Francis, who have been strongly supportive of the PEP video grant initiative. PEP is also grateful to those Jurors who worked tirelessly to review the numerous video grant project applications.
PEP Author Video Interview Project
A new Video Project called “PEP Top Authors Project” has been developed to replace the PEP Video Grants. PEP will use the video grant funds to make brief videos of the 100 most cited psychoanalytic authors. PEP will set up a small studio and fund the video staff, interviewer, and the facility.
